Matthew Smith

Matthew Smith is a music teacher at Hampton College. He was awarded a BA in music from the University of Nottingham in 2010 and an MA in music in 2011.

Matthew has a great enthusiasm for music making at all levels and finds music a hugely rewarding pastime. He enjoys a wide variety of different styles of music including classical, modern and jazz and has performed with brass bands, big bands, orchestras and choirs including improvisatory and solo work. Matthew has conducted many concerts during recent years including a programme featuring Mozart's 21st piano concerto and Schubert's 5th symphony.

While in Nottingham Matthew was the Musical Director for the University Gilbert and Sullivan Society, Principle Conductor of the University Brass Ensemble and String Orchestra and led worship at his local church by playing either the organ or piano with a band.
